Creative Places

Creative Places is a nationally unique partnership between Eventus, Arts Council England Yorkshire and Sheffield City Council.

The Housing Market Renewal (HMR) initiative transformed some of Sheffield’s most deprived communities by creating more successful and sustainable neighbourhoods. Creative Places enabled HMR teams across the city to embed culture into the regeneration and renewal process; helping to make great places to live and work and celebrating the distinctiveness of areas shaped by history and the landscape, areas where people value their identity and neighbourhoods.

Eventus kicked started creative activity in three HMR areas with Postcards from Tinsley, The View and S2 Legends. It provided training for HMR staff in their understanding of culture and its relevance within all areas of HMR work. Supporting a HMR Culture Task Group, Eventus continued to ensure that staff had the relevant skills so that housing regeneration teams can now commission, recruit and project manage artists.

Throughout the programme Eventus has been keen to ensure community engagement is integral to all projects and processes, whilst using this basis to develop ideas and partnerships for future projects.
