The Value of Culture
In common with many local authorities, Shropshire County Council was facing a major reorganisation and took the opportunity to look at integrating the work of its Arts Department across its service delivery. Eventus was commissioned to write three advocacy reports, on Rural Arts, Arts in Health, and Arts and Heritage in Community Safety. The target audience were elected members and senior management of the authority, so extensive interviews were carried out with key directorates to define their service priorities.
The reports looked at local, regional and national contexts, with particular reference to the developing Arts Council strategies on Rural Arts and Arts in Health. Case studies with particular reference to rural areas were researched across all three areas.
The three reports and action plan were presented at a seminar attended by elected members from all parties and Directors.
