Staff team

Eventus operates with a small core team and brings together experienced freelance artists and associates to meet the demands of each project. We also train, engage and employ local people wherever possible and thereby sustain activity in an area beyond the period of our direct involvement.

Clare McManus | Director

Clare McManus

Clare led the company’s long term development projects including Full Circle and Creative Futures – Sheffield’s LGA / DCMS Cultural Pathfinder.

She is experienced at partnership working with organisations outside the cultural sector and at embedding culture into mainstream agendas.

Clare specialises in evaluation, research and strategy. She is author of "Fewer than six..." - a study of creativity in regeneration in Yorkshire and the Humber.

She is a member of the Chartered Management Institute (MCMI) and is a Board Member of Yorkshire Artspace Society.

Cath Brown | Company Manager

Cath Brown

Cath is an experienced Administrator, having worked within the health service and at The University of Sheffield. She provides a comprehensive support service to the company and our projects, and is Project Manager for our Kids Can Do (Positive Activities for Young People aged 8-13) contract with Sheffield City Council.

Craig Williamson | Finance Officer

Craig is an experienced financial officer who has a wealth of experience working in the Voluntary Sector. He is responsible for the financial management and monitoring of all the company's work.

Rick Brand (Chair)

Rick is Market Intelligence Manager at Sheffield Hallam University. He previously spent most of his working life in the retail industry. His experience includes the areas of operational management, buying, merchandising, catalogue production, business development, marketing and market research.

Ian Hemingway

Ian is an experienced solicitor, acting as a consultant to JMW Solicitors in Manchester, having previously been a barrister. He has more than 10 years' experience as a commercial litigator dealing with high value commercial disputes between companies and directors, and also specialises in defamation law. Prior to embarking on a legal career, Ian had management experience in the retail and distribution industry.

Clare McManus (Company Secretary)

As part of the organisational review process and recruitment of the new Board of Directors, Clare was appointed as Company Secretary in December 2006.

Liz Owen

Liz is a writer and researcher.  Liz taught and undertook consultancy at Sheffield Hallam University, University of Gloucestershire and University College Birmingham. Prior to working in higher education Liz worked as a manager in the subsidised arts with Pentabus Theatre; Dudley MBC; Hackney MBC; and West Midlands Arts.

Louise Mary Page

Louise is a writer and playwright, who has previously worked for The Royal Shakespeare Company and Royal Court, and on The Archers, Bad Girls, and Doctors. She now runs her own company, Words4Work, which helps businesses improve their written and spoken communication skills, and she is involved in a number of community and educational projects.

Michael Pye

Mike Pye was a member of Sheffield City Council for 26 years until his retirement in 2010.  He is a Trustee of a number of other arts/museum-related organisations both nationally and regionally including The Sheffield Industrial Museums Trust and the Lyceum Theatres Trust.  He is a member of the Museums Association National Council and, until recently, was a member of the Arts Council of England Yorkshire Regional Board.

Jamie Veitch

Jamie is a founding Director of New Start Publishing, producing the monthly community regeneration magazine ‘New Start’, and Make A Difference Publishing, producing the monthly ‘Social Enterprise’ magazine. Jamie is also a trustee of the social firm Sheffield Reclaim. His expertise includes revenue generation, business development, marketing, event organisation, and consultancy.
